Dr. Katie McEnroe, PsyD

Licensed Clinical Psychologist in Oregon

Hello! My name is Katie McEnroe, and I am a licensed clinical psychologist based in the beautiful Pacific Northwest near Portland, Oregon. My background has helped me work with a diverse set of teenagers and adults from a wide range of ethnicities, socioeconomic backgrounds, and ability levels. My clinical work has focused on helping individuals gain a deeper understanding of themselves, and by doing so, they are able to reduce the impact of their mental health symptoms on their daily life.

My experience has come from work with various community health groups, non-profit organizations, and private practice clinics in Oregon and California I have worked with transitional age individuals (18-25 years old) who were

diagnosed with anxiety, depression, and trauma-related disorders at the Department of Behavioral Health in San Bernardino County to help them manage their transition from childhood to young adulthood. I completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Portland-based NW Anxiety Institute, which specializes in the treatment of anxiety disorders. Additionally, my training and clinical experience at Veterans’ Village of San Diego allowed me to work with Veterans who struggle with mental health concerns related to their military service, as well as the transition from military to civilian life. Lastly, I have had clinical experience with conducting psychological assessments for a range of mental health diagnoses.

In my personal life, I enjoy spending time with my spouse, dog, and cat. I enjoy baking, camping, reading and board games. I love the PNW and the variety it has to offer, both in nature and in the city.

Therapeutic Approach

I take an integrative approach to therapy, combining methods from various disciplines to help individuals of various backgrounds. My foundation in Humanistic Therapy means I aim to create a warm, accepting space where clients feel truly heard and supported, even as we analyze opportunities to make meaningful, lasting change in their lives. I have a passion for helping clients stay present, open up to their emotions, and make changes that stick. I also work with people who are looking to grow personally and express themselves more authentically.

I pull heavily from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) in my work. I have found that this combination of methodologies can drive genuine healing, which often occurs through a combination of acceptance and change. My wide-ranging approach can help clients to become more psychologically flexible, more present, more in tune with their emotions, and more competent at shifting unhelpful thought patterns.

I work with individuals 18 and older who experience struggles with anxiety, depression, trauma, health-related concerns, control issues, uncertainty, and difficulties with life transitions.
